Join us on Sunday, May 2nd for our Volunteer Day at the Hart's Falls Preserve - we'll clear trails and get them ready for summer, make sure signage is still standing and clear, and pick up any trash that the river left us this winter. We'll be out from 10am to noon - bring gloves, but we'll have tools and clippers and trash bags. Come check out the Hart's Falls Preserve - Google can guide the way, or at the intersection of Townline Rd and the Russell-Pyrites Rd.

SAVE THE DATE!!! Join us on Saturday, May 16th, as Dr. Tom Langen, a longtime member of our board of directors, will lead a bird walk at Upper and Lower Lakes Wildlife Management Area outside Canton from 8-10:30am. To ensure all can hear and the birds aren't disturbed, the walk is limited to 15 people. Please e-mail the St. Lawrence Land Trust (stlawlandtrust at stlawlandtrust.org) with your interest and how many plan to join. This WMA is recognized as an Important Bird Area, has high diversity of bird species typical of the St. Lawrence Valley, including several that are considered species of greatest conservation need, such as Golden-winged Warbler, Bobolink, and Black Tern. We will walk the Middle Lake access road off CR 14 (about 2 miles down CR 14 from the intersection with Route 11 toward Rensselaer Falls). The walk is flat and about a mile long each way (2 miles round-trip).

Any donation will help the St. Lawrence Land Trust protect land across our county and provide stewardship advice for local landowners. We work with other local conservation groups to help fund our bigger projects, but running our day-to-day organization does take a little support from the community. We're so thankful we've been able to rely on our donors for the past 20 years. Thank you for your continued support.

Join our annual Tooley Pond Waterfall walk on 9/27
Saturday Sept. 27, 8:30-11am - Tooley Pond Road Waterfall Walk
On Saturday September 20th from 10am to noon, join us to prep the trails for winter at the Hart's Falls Preserve. We'll clear trails and clean up any remaining summer debris. We'll have tools and equipment, but please bring gloves, and perhaps lunch to enjoy on the Falls. We've installed some new signage and improved the boardwalk - now we just need to do final mow and trimming to get everything just right for Fall. Everyone is welcome.

If you haven't joined us in the past, please consider checking out these amazing waterfalls. Dr. Tom Langen and the St. Lawrence Land Trust will lead a family friendly tour of waterfalls on Tooley Pond Road on Saturday, September 27th, just in time for the heart of the fall foliage. Participants should meet at the ADK Park sign on the western end of the Tooley Pond Rd. at 8:30 a.m. (about 1.5 miles up the road from Degrasse). The tour should be around than 2.5 hours total. We will explore 4 different waterfalls along the road, weather and conditions permitting.

The tour is a mix of drives along paved and gravel roads and short (less than .5 miles), walks to the waterfalls. Note, though the trails are short, they can be steep in places, so strollers are not appropriate, and several would not be appropriate for those with walking challenges.

RSVP is appreciated by e-mailing [email protected] but there is space for all. For more information or directions contact us at the e-mail address above.
