We are excited about the improvements we are making to the Keller Gallery! Drywall is currently being installed around the perimeter of the gallery to modernize our space and create a better setting for all future temporary exhibitions. The ceramic tiles have always been difficult to design around. A neutral surface that we can paint any color will enhance our exhibition program for both in-house and traveling exhibitions. Mark your calendars for the FREE grand opening of the first exhibition in the redesigned space, A Legacy Revived: Exploring Stark County's Rich Black History, on June 19 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.

This project is funded in part by the Ohio History Fund, a grant program of the Ohio History Connection. Your donations to the Ohio History Fund make this program possible. www.ohiohistory.org/historyfund

It's !

Dueber-Hampden is well-known for making pocket watches, but did you know they briefly produced bicycles too? The company only made these bikes for 5 years beginning in 1896. This model was $55 -- which translates to more than $1200 today!

This is a ladies model, not only because there is no bar between the handlbars and seat to accommodate a skirt, but the back fender also has holes in it where there were strings across the spokes to keep a skirt from getting tangled up in the wheel!

Presented in partnership with Nightwine Productions, we spend a week filming during the camp experience, often in hidden, behind-the-scenes spots in the Museum. This year’s movie is “The McKinley Project.” After an AI data center under the Monument becomes sentient, the team needs to stop it from taking over the world!

After Movie Camp ends, Nightwine Productions works on editing and special effects throughout the fall. Our movie’s World Premiere takes place in December.

At Movie Camp, kids will learn:
• Acting
• Directing
• Camera Work
• Sound
• Green Screen

Soup at Six: The History & Culture of Sneakers — From the 1830s to Air Jordans

📅 June 4 | 🕕 6:00 PM

What do the 1830s… basketball legends… and your favorite pair of sneakers have in common?

A story worth telling.

Sneakers have shaped—and been shaped by—generations. What began as simple athletic footwear has evolved into a powerful symbol of culture, identity, and self-expression. From early rubber soles to bold designs influenced by music, sports, and street style, every pair tells a story of innovation and influence.

Step into style and explore this fascinating evolution with Membership Coordinator Zander Everman. From classic canvas shoes to the legacy of Air Jordans and beyond, this is more than a program—it’s a journey through culture, creativity, and connection.

History has never looked this cool.

Cost: $25 per person (includes soup, bread, and dessert). Pre-registration required by May 28. Register online: qrco.de/bgMTnx Or call 330-455-7043 during regular business hours.

All proceeds support the Museum’s mission to connect audiences through history, science, and the legacy of William McKinley.
