The City of Canton is saddened to share the news of the passing of former Mayor Don Edwards.

Public Works will be going around picking up tree limbs and other debris from last night's storm. If you have limbs down in your yard, please move them to the terrace and city workers will collect them to take to the yard waste dump. Thank you.

The City of Canton would like to thank the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 18 of Central Illinois and its apprentice program, JATC Local 18, for the work they recently donated.
The City owns the building located at 35 East Side Square, now known as “The Cardosi Building”. Following the natural gas explosion next door at the Opera House building, the eastern one-third of the Cardosi had to be demolished. This left an interior wall that suddenly was now an exterior wall. To strengthen the wall, protect it from the elements, and enhance its aesthetics, the City partnered with Local 18 in a win-win arrangement. The City paid for all of the materials, and Local 18 JATC donated their labor and weekends to teach apprentice plasterers the skill of applying stucco. It’s been a great collaboration, and the City is very grateful for this donation of labor.
