It’s raining!!🌧️

Another Moderate Risk for heavy rain and flash flooding has been issued for tomorrow for Palestine, TX and surrounding areas.

Heavy, training rainfall associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Edouard is expected tonight into Thursday morning, with localized totals of 8 inches or more possible. Still lots of uncertainty because it’s really gonna come down to where the heaviest rain bands set up.

While the rain is welcome after the recent drought, too much too quickly could lead to dangerous flash flooding. Be weather-aware overnight and never drive through flooded roads.

We are so excited to announce we were among those chosen to receive the Operation Round-Up grant from Trinity Valley Charitable Foundation under Trinity Valley Electric Co-op! Our late summer wildfire season is underway.🔥

Dry, windy conditions increase wildfire potential while the occasional storm can bring lightning that furthers the risk of ignition.

And with extreme heat statewide, ALL Texans should practice fire safety.

[8/25 6:25 AM] A few lucky areas are receiving scattered light rain and a few rumbles of thunder this morning near and east of I-35 in North TX. Spotty showers will diminish in coverage through mid-morning with a hot day still expected to follow.

The Texas Fire Potential Update is posted at: https://link.edgepilot.com/x/GQy_HfxR3OqdTyPS9QEeM5w?u=https://bit.ly/TexasFirePotentialUpdate.
• Persistent triple-digit heat and a mostly dry pattern will continue through the weekend and into early next week. High initial attack potential will persist across East Texas because of critically dry surface fuel. Continued degradation of moisture in high-risk fuels (juniper/oak, pine timber) will support a high volume of fuel-driven fire occurrence and could exhibit moderate to high resistance to control.
• Texas A&M Forest Service responded to 100 fires state-wide in the last 7-days. Fire response has continued to increase over the month, driven by continued hot and dry conditions. August is the normal peak of statewide wildfire occurrence annualy due to summer drying and hot temperatures.

🟡 In its lunchtime update, SPC upgraded a sizeable chunk of East Texas into their “Slight” risk outline for severe storms, later this afternoon and evening.
• This covers the same general thought processes that we talked about in the morning update, including Wind as the main severe weather component.
