The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office would like to clarify the details surrounding an incident that occurred last night involving several juveniles on e-bikes in the Centennial Lakes subdivision.
Just after 7 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call reporting disorderly juveniles on Celebration Lane. Upon arrival, a female resident explained that a group of juveniles had been circling her vehicle, harassing her, and ultimately preventing her from safely exiting her car. She stated she recognized the juveniles from prior similar incidents for which she had contacted law enforcement in the past.
According to the caller, when she asked the juveniles to move away from her vehicle, additional juveniles arrived and continued the behavior. She reported that once she exited her car, the juveniles made obscene hand gestures and body movements, and several rode their e-bikes toward her in a manner that made her feel threatened.
After obtaining the woman’s statement, deputies located the juveniles nearby and instructed them to get off their e-bikes and sit on the curb so we could talk to them. Based on previous encounters in which juveniles have attempted to run when questioned, deputies temporarily placed them in handcuffs for safety and control.
The woman says, “This is not kids being kids or boys being boys. This is dangerous and aggressive behavior.”
Rather than impounding the e-bikes—which could have caused unnecessary financial hardship for the families—deputies chose to educate the juveniles and their parents about e-bike regulations and the consequences of reckless or aggressive behavior. Deputies released the juveniles to their parents, and no charges were filed. Potential charges could have included reckless driving, aggressive driving, or simple assault.

Bolo-Missing Person

Cherity Farmer (28 years old) was last seen approximately one month ago in the. area of North Etowah Dr and Shoal Creek Rd. Cherity is approximately 5'09", 200Ibs., with brown hair, and green eyes. It is unknown what clothing she was last wearing or if she left the area on foot or in a vehicle.

Officer Chris Fisher’s courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting his community will never be forgotten. The Cherokee Sheriffs Office stands with his family, friends, and fellow officers as we remember a life of service and sacrifice.
