Last week Chief Gamache, Lt. Batchelder and Lt. Bickers traveled to Ocala, Florida to perform the final inspection on our new pumper.

This process allowed us the ensure that this fire truck was built to spec, and afforded us the ability to drive it and to identify issues that needed to be addressed before delivery.

Before the end of May, it will be shipped to the local dealer where it will be lettered and the finishing touches will be completed.

Upon delivery to town, expected in early June, the manufacturer will conduct training for our members. Then, our members will complete department specific training before the truck is placed in service.

This truck was ordered in 2023 after approval at the town meeting. It will replace our 1996 fire engine that will be placed out of service.

Members of our department spent some time this week on what is commonly known as a mid-point inspection on our new pumper. A mid-point inspection is a critical step in the manufacturing process of complex equipment like fire trucks. Its purpose is to verify that the production is on track, ensure quality control, and identify any potential issues or defects before the final stages of production.
This truck, approved for purchase at town meeting in 2023 is slated to come off the assembly line in late April where it will be shipped to our local dealer in Maine. It is anticipated that this vehicle will be prepared to serve the town in mid to late June.

We are appreciative of all community members who came out last evening to support the volunteer fire department first responders who serve our community. Annually, we set aside an evening to recognize them for their achievements. This year we were joined by the leadership and some employees of Penacook Rescue, the service that provides primary response and EMS transport services for our town. Congratulations to all recipients and welcome to our newest member who was sworn in to the department.

At 2319 last evening shortly after it began to snow we responded to interstate 93 south just north of exit 18 for a single vehicle motor vehicle accident. The vehicle, which had struck a granite ledge and came to rest on its side with two occupants who were both transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
As crews were working this accident, standard precautions were put in place by police by the responders. These precautions include flares, traffic cones, and a blocker engine upstream as well as our responders having the appropriate reflective gear on. While working the scene, a second vehicle came through the work zone and crashed in the middle of our blocking zone. This vehicle narrowly missed the first responders working on the scene as well as the emergency vehicles. The occupant of the second vehicle was not injured. Thankfully no responders or equipment were struck.
Working with our crew on the incident were Penacook Rescue as well as NH State Police
