Over the several days, the Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) has experienced an increase in vehicle trespass complaints resulting in personal property losses. The thefts were reportedly from unlocked vehicles in most cases.

Chief Schick is asking the community to be sure and lock their vehicles and remove anything of value, taking items inside with you. If you are out and about it is also a good practice to conceal any items left in your secured vehicles so that criminals can’t see the valuables in your car, removing the temptation for the criminal offenders.

Additionally, the CCPD is asking that you call and report anything out of the ordinary in your neighborhood day or night. Would-be offenders might be in your neighborhoods searching for opportunities to come back to later. This is particularly true for anyone that you see in the community at odd hours of the evening or early morning hours. Chief Schick added that if you see anyone in your neighborhood, particularly during these hours, call and report them. Please do not approach them to investigate it yourself as they could be armed and violent.

If anyone has any information about these crimes, they are asked to either contact the CCPD at 719-276-5600 or Crime Stoppers at 1-719-275-STOP. Tipsters providing information through the P3 App which lead to an arrest could be eligible for a cash award.

Thank you Fremont County Foundation!!!

The Cañon City Police Department and CCPD 3rd Watch were honored to be recognized at Saturday's Flashback on Main event 😄

We want to extend our sincere appreciation to the Fremont County Foundation (FCF) for making a very generous donation to our CCPD K9 Unit! Thanks to the FCF activities throughout the year, the hard work done by the FCT Board and their wonderful volunteers, we will be able to continue to grow and support our K9 program.

K9 Officer Holbrook was on hand to receive the donation and share a little information about this unit. We look forward to showcasing our K9 Teams throughout the year!

Rec District Summer Season Launch!

The Cañon City Police Department was glad to be a part of the 2026 Cañon City Parks and Recreation District Summer Launch! It was at Rouse Park on Saturday and it included scores of youngsters, families and members of the public.

The CCPD brought out our MRAP vehicle and we had a SWAT equipment display and giveaways. Additionally, Detective Chan was given the honor of being the first person to take the plunge in the dunk tank 😄

Thanks to everyone who made this fun event such a success!

CCPD May Activity Snapshot

In an effort to keep our community informed about law enforcement activity, the Cañon City Police Department will begin sharing a monthly "snapshot".

This is intended to provide an brief overview of what the CCPD is doing to address law violations and participate in proactive policing. Please note the following as it pertains to data collection:

• Sources include data from the ITI/Omnigo Records Management System/Data Archive, Tyler RMS including Tyler Law Enforcement Explorer, Performance Dashboard, Tyler Law Enforcement Analytics and Computer Aided Dispatch or CAD, Packtrack, EvidenceOnQ, FileOnQ, Colorado Behavioral Health Administration, Powerengage and various social media posts.
• Any case not fully processed may not be included. All aggregations are based on cases subject to NIBRS corrections and therefore should not be considered official or final.
• As of May of 2024, the ability to collect additional data has improved within the agency. Data comparisons between previous and current systems does not necessarily reflect a rise or fall in crime but an extension in data collection. It is noted when previous data sources are used. Comparisons between years are included in
report if available.

In addition to statistics, you will find the snapshot includes photos and a crime prevention tip of the month. We hope you find the information interesting and beneficial.
