Great Job by the Library Foundation!

Last Friday, the Cañon City Library Foundation hosted an event at the Macon Plaza. It included live music, games and face painting, as well as a brief 9-11 Memorial observance. The Cañon City High School JROTC Color Guard did wonderful job of presenting the colors. Then CCPD Chief John Schick offered comments to honor the service and sacrifice of all those impacted by the 9-11 attacks.

We are fortunate to have such an active Library in our community, supported by the Foundation! There are exciting plans in the works for the area in front of the library - stop by to find out more.

***UPDATE*** Emily has been located and is safe!

Emily Broman (16 years old) was last seen on 9/11/2026 at approximately 10:30 pm wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. Emily is known to frequent Centennial "Duck" Park. If anyone knows Emily's whereabouts, please let us know.

Daysie Blake (16) and Stephen Trinajstick (15) have both been reported missing.

Daysie is described as 5'8"-5'9" tall, 125lbs, dirty blond curly hair that goes midway down her back, and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing light blue jeans with holes on the knees, a black and white plaid long sleeve shirt, and a white tank top. Daysie was last seen with Stephen.

Stephen is Described as 5'7-5-8 tall, 187 lbs, brown hair that is short length, blue eyes. After receiving updated information both parties were last seen in the 800 block of Griffin Ave. If you have seen Daysie or Stephen or have any information on where they might be located please call The Canon City Police Department.

9-11 We will never forget!

Friday, September 11th is observed as Patriots' Day in recognition of the attacks and the lives impacted in our nation 25 years ago. Locally, there will be a brief remembrance at Macon Plaza (Library park) at 4pm. The CCHS JROTC Color Guard will present the colors and Cañon City Police Chief Schick will offer a few comments.

As noted by the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, "A quarter century after the September 11, 2001 attacks, 100 million Americans are too young to remember the day that changed our city and nation forever. It is our shared promise — made 25 years ago — to never forget so those born after 9/11 learn its significance and enduring legacy. As we commemorate this anniversary, a new generation will learn about the unimaginable loss we experienced and the inspiring stories of bravery, compassion, unity, and service that we witnessed, and have rippled through the decades."

The CCPD hopes you will take some time to remember and reflect on the significance of the day, the event and the response of our country!

This male walked into Safeway located at 1414 Main St. and is accused of stealing merchandise on September 8th, 2026. If you are able to identify this person or have any information about him please contact Canon City Police Department

The City has been alerted that a few businesses have received an email that appeared to be coming from the City's Planning Department (see image below) asking for application and approval fees to be paid via wire transfer. This email is NOT coming from the City. Please do not click on the link - this is a phishing attempt for your information. Do not open the invoice attachment, is is an attempt to download malware onto your device. The City will never ask you to wire money.

Emails from the city have .gov in the email address. If you receive an email from the city that you were not expecting, be sure to hover over the sender's email address to be sure it isn't spoofed.

If you have any questions about whether an email is legitimate, please call the city at (719) 269-9011 and ask to speak with the sender of the email to verify they did send it to you

The 5th wheel camper here is a 34' Keystone Montana with Colorado license plate 965-ZXW. It was stolen during a burglary that occurred sometime between August 02, 2026, and August 21, 2026, in the area of the 2100 block of Forge Rd. It has distinguishable damage on the rear of the 5th wheel. If you have any information about whereabouts of the 5th wheel or any persons who may be involved in its theft please contact the Canon City Police Department.
