Cannon Beach Fire District will hold a work session on Thursday August 6th at 6pm. This work session is for board member orientation, discussion of employee handbook, and discussion of strategic plan.

Important UPDATE...Wednesday, July 22nd @6:15 PM (18:15): A head-on vehicle collision has closed Highway 101 north of Cannon Beach. Cannon Beach firefighters are extricating the victims from the vehicles to be sent to local hospitals for treatment. More info will follow.

Historic Week for the Cannon Beach Fire District 🚒

On Monday, July 13, 2026 at 5:00 a.m., Cannon Beach Fire District deployed our Type 6 Brush Truck with Clatsop County Task Force 12 to assist on the Olive Butte Fire and Salmon Fire in Baker County. On Wednesday, after completing their assignment, that crew was immediately reassigned to the Lower Dry Creek Fire in Umatilla County, where they continue to support wildfire suppression efforts.

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, evening, the Oregon State Fire Marshal requested available resources, specifically Type 1 Engines, to support additional conflagration responses across the state. Through the dedication of our full-time firefighters, volunteers, part-time personnel, and student firefighters, Cannon Beach Fire District was able to staff one of our structural engines, which joined Strike Team 8. The strike team departed early this (Thursday) morning to assist with the East Evans Creek Fire.

This deployment marks a historic first for Cannon Beach Fire District. Never before has our department deployed two separate crews under the Oregon Conflagration Act at the same time while continuing to fully staff our district and maintain emergency response coverage for the Cannon Beach community.
This milestone is a testament to the commitment, professionalism, and teamwork of every member of our department. Because of the dedication of our career staff, volunteers, part-time firefighters, and student firefighters, we are able to answer the call for communities in need while continuing to provide the high level of service our own community expects and deserves.

To our Cannon Beach community, thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and trust in our department. Your support makes accomplishments like this possible.

Please keep all of the firefighters deployed throughout Oregon in your thoughts and prayers 🙏🏽 as they work long hours under difficult conditions protecting lives, property, and natural resources. We wish every one of them a safe assignment and a safe return home to their families ❤

Cannon Beach and Seaside Firefighters quickly extinguished a camper trailer fire before noon on Highway 101, south of the Highway 26 junction. The trailer was a total loss, but the firefighter’s quick actions prevented the fire from spreading into the nearby vegetation.

Highway 101 was briefly closed while the fire was being contained. There were no injuries and the trailer is a total loss. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
