As most everyone knows, last light was one for the books!! Shortly after 9 o’clock last evening, emergency personnel were dispatched to the area south of Highway 50 and 1100 E., for a vehicle in the water two people stranded inside. Those two were walked out by fire personnel, and checked by EMS. Immediately thereafter, Engine 2 witnessed a vehicle drive into the water near 1200E and 150N and was swept off the roadway. Engine 2 immediately radioed in for additional units to respond to that location, as they were unable to go any farther from the north. A boat was requested from Washington for assistance. When units arrived from the east, one occupant was located sitting on top of the vehicle, and the vehicle was lodged in the culvert. At this point, it was determined that if a ladder was present, rescue could be made, a ladder truck was requested from Loogootee Fire Dept.. shortly after that request, Rescue 6 arrived from Montgomery FD, and was able to utilize their ladder to rescue the victim.
🚧🚧With all that being said, please do not drive through flood water!!🚧🚧
