At Coulee Croche Fire District No. 4, we are beyond grateful and truly blessed for the incredible support from our community and the amazing working relationships we have built with fire departments across the great State of Louisiana. These partnerships and friendships continue to help our department grow stronger and better equipped to serve not only our district, but surrounding communities as well.
Earlier this year, through these strong relationships, CCFD4 was honored to receive a donated tanker apparatus from Lafayette Parish, greatly improving our water supply operations. Now, we are proud to announce that we were able to purchase a fully refurbished used engine from the City of Westlake. This upgrade enhances our response capabilities, modernizes our apparatus fleet, and most importantly saves thousands of taxpayer dollars, allowing those funds to be reinvested into additional upgrades, equipment, and training for our department.
As call volume continues to increase, our members are constantly working to improve department operations and provide the highest level of service possible to our communities and neighboring agencies. CCFD4 is absolutely blessed to have outstanding chief officers who continue building these relationships throughout Louisiana, and we are equally blessed to have dedicated members who strive every single day to provide exceptional fire protection and emergency services.
We are also thankful to be in a position to pay it forward. CCFD4 will be donating a serviceable tanker and service apparatus to two other departments in Louisiana and is potentially preparing to donate a third serviceable apparatus as well. Helping neighboring departments become stronger only makes all of our communities safer.
Chief J. Menard would also like to personally recognize the incredible dedication of the members of CCFD4. After responding to a structure fire Saturday morning around 0500 hours, members still came to Station 41 and immediately began mounting equipment and transferring tools onto the newly acquired engine. By that afternoon, the entire apparatus was fully equipped, placed in service, and ready to respond to protect the community.
After the long day of hard work, members gathered together as Chief J. Menard boiled crawfish to celebrate the amazing mothers of CCFD4. While spending time together at the station, crews were dispatched to a reported single-vehicle crash on I-49 involving a smoking vehicle. Thankfully, there were no injuries and no fire, only steam caused by flood water contacting the vehicle’s hot components after it left the roadway.
This is what dedication, family, teamwork, and service look like.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to our communities, neighboring departments, and especially our members and their families for the continued support. We are proud, grateful, and honored to serve.
