Dear Residents,

A significant cold snap is forecast to impact our area, with below-freezing temperatures expected beginning Sunday evening and continuing through Tuesday morning.

National Weather Service guidance indicates the potential for ice to form on roadways, creating hazardous driving conditions.

To help ensure everyone's safety during this event, we kindly ask the following:

• Minimize vehicle travel as much as possible, especially during overnight and early morning hours when ice is most likely to develop on roads, bridges, and overpasses. Please stay home if your travel is not essential.

• Bring pets indoors and provide them with adequate shelter, warmth, food, and water to protect them from the extreme cold.

• Check on elderly neighbors, vulnerable individuals, or anyone with special needs. If you are aware of any elderly residents, those living alone, or community members who may require assistance (such as help with heating, supplies, or wellness checks) during this freeze, please reach out so we can coordinate support.

If you or someone you know may need assistance, or if you have information about residents who could benefit from proactive outreach, please contact me directly at 𝟯𝟯𝟳-𝟯𝟮𝟮-𝟱𝟬𝟵𝟵.

This will allow our Police Department and Fire Department to be aware in advance and better prepared to provide help if needed.

🚨BE ON THE LOOKOUT🚨

Suspicious Activity - Attempted Burglaries

Three individuals wearing hoodies and carrying backpacks were observed checking door handles in the area of Wagon Trail and Chris Road.

They may be traveling in a possible black vehicle.

Residents are urged to be vigilant, report any suspicious activity immediately, and ensure vehicles and homes are secured.

If you see these individuals or the described vehicle, do NOT approach—call local law enforcement right away.

Stay alert and watch out for your neighbors!

🎃 Halloween in Cankton! 🎃

Join us for a spooktacular Trick-or-Treat on Friday, October 31st from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM! To keep our little ghouls and goblins safe, Dupre Oaks Subdivision will be closed to through traffic, with only residents permitted. Let’s make this a fun, safe, and candy-filled Halloween for everyone in Cankton! 🍬👻

Sand and bags will be available in the Landon Pitre Memorial Park. Please bring your own shovel to fill the bags. Bags will be in the red trash can along the fence. If you need any help with high water issues, please give me a call.

With the freezing temperatures upon us, it's crucial to take precautions to stay warm and safe:

Keep yourselves warm: Layer up, stay indoors if possible, and make sure your heating systems are working properly.

Don't forget your pets: Bring them inside or ensure they have a warm, sheltered space. Outdoor water bowls can freeze, so check them regularly.

Check on the elderly: If you have elderly family members or neighbors, please ensure they are warm and have everything they need.

Last night, while you were all dreaming of sugarplums, I was out there doing what I do best - saving Christmas! We've apprehended the notorious Grinch right here in Cankton, caught red-handed (or should I say green-fingered?) trying to steal our Christmas cheer. Don't worry, folks, his heart might be two sizes too small, but our holiday spirit is bigger than ever! So, from all of us at the Cankton Police Department, we wish you a Merry Christmas, filled with joy, laughter, and, of course, no more Grinch antics. Keep your eggnog safe, your presents secure, and your hearts open - because that's what Christmas is all about! 🎄🚨
