Just a quick reminder about wildlife and trapping within city limits.

Every so often, we get calls about raccoons, skunks, possums, muskrats, woodchucks, feral cats, and other critters making themselves at home around town. When needed, the Maintenance Department uses live traps to safely relocate animals outside of town. We also work with local farmers to help manage the feral cat population.

A reminder that residents are not allowed to set traps within city limits unless specifically permitted by City ordinance. Under no circumstances are foot traps allowed.

If you're having issues with a wild or domesticated animal, please reach out. We may be able to help, and we also have live traps available to borrow.

Thanks for helping us keep Canistota safe for both people and animals. 🐾

Dear Canistota Residents,

At the April City Council meeting, the operations of the Canistota Rubble Site were reviewed. Following that discussion, the Council voted to discontinue staffed open‑hour operations at the site. Going forward, the Rubble Site will only be accessible by gate code, which will be provided to individuals who purchase an annual pass.

Pass holders will have access to the site daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Annual passes may be purchased at the City Finance Office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

Thank you for your understanding as we transition to this updated system.
