Last Friday’s CVMS Talent & Awards Show was a wonderful celebration of our students’ many talents, accomplishments, and achievements. From impressive performances to well-deserved recognition, it was a beautiful day to showcase our Cardinals, both in and out of the classroom.
Congratulations to all our performers and award recipients, and thank you to the staff, families, and supporters who helped make this event such a tremendous success! ❤️🖤

A special mentor made this school year even sweeter! Mrs. Rousher’s class was lucky to spend the second half of the school year with their high school mentor, Mia, now a rising senior! Mia became a wonderful role model, helper, and friend to our students at Hilltop!

Last week, our Hilltop 3rd graders took part in the annual Canfield Walking Trip!
After spending time learning about Canfield’s rich history in the classroom with Mrs. Rupert, Mrs. Beil, Miss Missos and Mrs. Osborne, students visited many of the community’s most important historical sites in person and saw firsthand the places they’ve been studying.
To make the experience even more fun, Mrs. Beil added a creative twist by placing “Snoopy” around the center of town for a scavenger hunt the students absolutely loved! 🐾🔍

On Sunday, 185 members of the Canfield High School Class of 2026 graduated under beautiful, sunny skies at Bob Dove Stadium, marking the culmination of years of hard work, growth, and achievement.
The ceremony featured outstanding performances by our choir and band, with senior Lainey Modarelli delivering a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Senior Class President Shanze Bajwa offered the invocation, and Inaya Khan delivered the Class Address, reflecting on the memories, challenges, and accomplishments that brought the Class of 2026 to this milestone. A common thread in both addresses was the reminder that kindness matters and can make a difference in others' lives.
Speakers also included retiring Principal, Dr. Mark Potts, who offered advice and encouragement as graduates prepare for the next chapter of their journeys, and Coach Todd Starkey, 1989 Canfield grad (see our previous post).
Congratulations, Class of 2026! Once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal. ❤️🖤🎓

A heartfelt thank you to Coach Todd Starkey, Canfield High School Class of 1989, for returning home to serve as the keynote speaker for Sunday's graduation ceremony.
Coach Starkey shared a powerful message about perseverance, resilience, and never giving up when challenges arise. His journey is a testament to those values. After graduating from Canfield, he built an outstanding career in collegiate basketball, earning national recognition as a coach and becoming one of the winningest coaches in Kent State University history. He currently serves as Associate Head Coach at the University of Arizona and has spent more than two decades impacting the lives of student-athletes across the country.
While many young people today know him as "Drew Starkey's dad," Coach Starkey's own accomplishments and leadership have made him a source of pride for the Canfield community for many years. We are grateful that he took the time to come home and inspire the Class of 2026 with a message that success is built through hard work, perseverance, and the courage to keep moving forward.
Thank you, Coach Starkey, for reminding our graduates that the road ahead may not always be easy, but it's always worth the effort. ❤️🖤🎓
