At approximately 9:00 this morning CCVFD was paged out for mutual aid for a structure fire at the 12000 block of Sea Island Drive. Assisting Long Cove were elements from Malakoff VFD, Trinidad VFD and Payne Springs Fire/Rescue. There were no injuries.

At 4:05 am on Monday morning Caney City VFD was called to the 400 block of Royall Blvd in Malakoff to provide mutual aid for a structure fire in a commercial building. Other units assisting were Southside, Payne Springs, Long Cove and Trinidad. The businesses were closed at the time of the fire and there were no casualties.

This weekend members of Caney City VFD, along with firefighters from Southside, Log Cabin and College Mound attended 20 hours of training in vehicle extrication. The training included classroom and hands on techniques in safely removing victims from motor vehicle accidents. Many thanks to the instructors Lynn Reasoner and Randy McCoy. Also thanks to Athens Wrecker Service for allowing us to practice these skills on previously wrecked cars.

On Monday night, August 5th, members of the Caney City FD met for mutual training with firefighters from Southside VFD and Long Cove. On the agenda was survival techniques for emergency exiting from a burning building. Using the technique known affectionately as Smooth/Bump/Bump to the Pump, firefighters practiced in complete darkness how to follow the hose to escape.

Hey Everyone. The Fire Station is prepped and ready for our Annual Fundraiser. We are having a fish fry with french fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. For the kids under 13 we also have hotdogs or chicken tenders for $5:00. Sweet and unsweetened tea. $10.00 a plate with all proceeds going to support your Caney City First Responders. We also have many items up bid in a Silent Action. Come on down and enjoy. Sat 4:00 - 7:00pm.
