Meet FF/EMT Kevin Frederes!

His path to public service started young as he attended college for Fire Protection Technology and later worked as a 911 Dispatcher for the City of Rochester until getting hired here at CFD as a Firefighter/EMT. Kevin has 16 years of fire service experience, 7 of those years being with us here at CFD. When asked what he enjoys most about working in Canandaigua, FF/EMT Frederes shared “It's a great community to serve. I enjoy the wide variety of hazards we face here in Canandaigua, this means being ready for all different kinds of emergencies.” Kevin takes great pride in all the training and administrative duties the firefighters are assigned between calls along with the constant research of innovations in our field and the cost-effective ways we introduce new technology to make the community safer. Kevin was recently honored with our FF of the year award which marks a significant accomplishment in his career. Outside of work Kevin enjoys the outdoors including hiking with his wife and their dogs. Last year Kevin became an Adirondack 46er, meaning he successfully climbed all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks!

As we prepare for our next swearing in ceremony, we’re excited to once again highlight our locally built lectern by CA graduate Taylor Pennise. Taylor and Mr. Jeff Carson(shop teacher) exceeded our expectations when we brought the partnership idea to them. This will continue to serve as a focal point of CFD events for many years to come.
