CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE AWARD RECIPIENTS AT THE ANNUAL ONTARIO COUNTY SAFETY COUNCIL'S AWARD BANQUET!!!

On March 24th, 2026, the Ontario County Safety Council held their 62nd Annual Awards Banquet at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor to honor members of law enforcement, fire, EMS and citizens for their individual acts of selflessness and heroism during critical events throughout 2025.

Among the awards recipients, were two Canandaigua Police Officers.

Officer Jeremiah Welch received a Letter of Commendation for his actions 07/18/2025 when a dog attacked and severely injured its owner and a bystander. Officer Welch quickly decapacitated the animal and then applied a tourniquet to the victim's severely injured arm. Several officers then arrived on scene and provided first aid to the victim until EMS arrived. The victim was in attendance at the awards ceremony.

Officer Hussein Al Hasooni was presented the "2025 Top Cop" award by the Ontario County STOP DWI Program for his continued contributions to traffic safety in Ontario County. In addition to his regular patrol duties, Officer Al Hasooni arrested 32 drivers for DWI related offenses within the City of Canandaigua in 2025.

We applaud all of the award recipients, and this awards ceremony exemplifies the true sense of community that exists here in Ontario County.
