Why do the seasons change? 🌱☀️🍂❄️

Last week, students in Mrs. Portales’s 7th-grade social studies class explored how the ancient Greeks answered that question through mythology. Students took on roles and read aloud the story of Demeter and Persephone while learning how myths helped ancient civilizations make sense of the world around them.

Congratulations to our 2026 Canal Wi******er High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductees: Darren Davis (Class of 2019), Lonzell Fegin (Class of 2017), Brady Snyder (Class of 2019), and Kim Wirthman (Award of Merit). We were proud to celebrate this outstanding group and their contributions to Canal Wi******er Athletics!

Tonight at 7 p.m., the Indians kick off against Worthington Kilbourne for their first home game of the season! We’ll also officially induct the 2026 Class into the Canal Wi******er Athletic Hall of Fame.

To start the school year off with safety at the forefront, our transportation staff visited Wi******er Trail and Indian Trail last week to practice bus evacuation drills with students! These hands-on drills help students know what to expect and what to do if they ever need to exit a bus quickly.

B is for Bubbles... and Best Lesson Ever!

As part of their lessons on the letter “B,” Ms. Hollinger’s students at Indian Trail Elementary made their own bubble wands and put them to the test outside! Students had a Blast making Beautiful Bubbles and Building their literacy skills — and made some fun memories along the way!

Another month of construction is in the books, with plenty of progress across campus! 🚧

At the baseball and softball complex, earthwork grading and the detention pond are complete, with utility installation now underway. The new Performing Arts Center is also taking shape, with the building pad and water line work complete and foundations nearing completion.

At the future fieldhouse, the building pad is complete, the pre-engineered metal building has been delivered, and crews are installing underground utilities.

Coming up next, crews will begin work on foundations at the ball fields and fieldhouse, as well as additional plumbing, electrical, water, and drainage work across the project sites.
