Our police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers have hard jobs.

On National First Responders Day, I want these men and women to know how much I appreciate them. Especially in our small towns, where the person answering the call might be someone you went to school with, work alongside, or see at church on Sunday.

Thank you for taking care of your neighbors and your communities. We honor and recognize you every day, and especially today.

Took a break from Town Halls to spend time at Abernathy ISD this week.

I got to see the schools from the eyes the students themselves. An impressive group of students led us through the elementary, middle and high schools. They did a fantastic job representing their school, and I really enjoyed their stories and the tour.

One of my favorite parts of traveling District 88 is visiting our public schools. Every district has its own personality, but I see a common thread in the people who teach, lead and encourage our young people. There's a lot of good work happening in classrooms across rural Texas, and I'm so proud to support our public schools.

Thank you to Superintendent Glen Hill and his staff for the invitation, and especially to the students who took the time to welcome us and show us around. You represented Abernathy so well!

Wrapped up our final round of town halls in Muleshoe, and Bailey County gave us a good turnout to finish things off.

Thank you to Bailey County Senior Citizens for hosting us! We covered property taxes, public education, data centers, private property rights and several other issues we'll be working through during the 90th Legislative Session.

That's one thing I've enjoyed about these town halls. You can come in with a list of things to discuss, but the folks in the room have have different concerns. And that's why I make these trips.

We've covered a lot of miles across District 88, and I've appreciated every stop. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come visit, ask questions and share what's happening in your community. I've got plenty to take back to Austin.

Next up on Wednesday was Morton, where we had a great crowd in Cochran County.

A special thank you to Cochran County Senior Citizens for welcoming us back and allowing us to use their facility. We were also joined by Coach Bulmer's government class and members of SPECO, along with director Keelt Kent.

With students in the room, we spent some extra time on a little Texas government lesson. The life of a bill, how an idea becomes legislation, the challenges along the way and why some bills make it across the finish line while others don't.

Thank you for having me, Cochran County. It was great to see you today.

Great town hall in Littlefield with Lamb County on Wednesday.

Property tax appraisals were a big part of the conversation, particularly how properties are compared and whether those comparisons account for communities with similar economic conditions.

We also spent time talking about public education, which I expect will receive a great deal of attention during the 90th Legislative Session. Folks in the room shared their own experiences, helping everyone better understand what's happening in our schools. We also discussed HB 3000 and the positive results we've seen from that legislation.

I walked through how our state government operates and how legislation moves through the Texas House. Sometimes these conversations leave us with more questions than answers, and that's part of the process. Those questions still give us something to work on.

Thank you to everyone in Lamb County who joined us.

Robin and I traded the Panhandle for Fort Worth today and spent the afternoon knocking on doors for John McQueeney.

After a week of town halls across District 88, you'd think we'd had enough walking and talking. Apparently, we had a little left in us!

Enjoyed getting out together and helping a fellow Republican. Robin's always along for the adventure, whether we're on the road or walking a neighborhood.

Finished Tuesday's town halls in Plainview with a roundtable discussion in Hale County.

We covered many of the same topics we've been hearing across District 88, including data centers, property taxes, private property rights and the work ahead in the 90th Legislative Session.

I appreciate everyone who joined us in Plainview and took time to share their thoughts.

Our next stop on Tuesday was Tulia, where Swisher County showed up with a great group of folks ready to talk about the issues facing their community.

We spent time listening to concerns, answering questions and discussing priorities for the 90th Legislative Session. My job is to pay attention to the problems people are dealing with and work toward policies that address them.

Disaster mitigation is a good example of what can happen when we identify a problem and work through the legislative process to find solutions. I'm proud of the work we've done to equip rural communities with the equipment they need when fire and other disasters happen.

Thank you to everyone in Swisher County who took the time to visit with me.

We kicked off this week's town halls in Nazareth with a large crowd from Castro County and plenty of questions about data centers.

Data center development is a big topic across District 88 right now, and folks had questions about what these facilities could mean for our electricity, water resources, infrastructure and private property rights.

We also talked about how the Texas Legislature works. We meet in regular session every odd-numbered year to consider legislation, but the work of studying issues, meeting with constituents and preparing for the next session happens throughout the interim.

As Chairman of the House State Affairs Committee, I've spent a lot time working through some of these same issues in Austin. Hearing directly from the communities affected is an important part of my job.

Thank you for coming, Castro County. I appreciate the feedback and great turnout.
