🚨 SUMMER SPEED ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVE🚨

Following multiple complaints from residents regarding speeding and aggressive driving, our troopers have been out conducting targeted motor vehicle enforcement to keep our roads safe.

Today, troopers flooded the Salisbury area, focusing on hot spots where community members expressed the most concern. Over 50 traffic stops were conducted during this targeted detail.

Our goal isn't to hand out tickets, it’s to ensure everyone gets home safely. High speeds drastically reduce your reaction time and increase the severity of crashes, especially on our scenic and winding local roads.

Consider this your friendly reminder that summer is just kicking off, and so is our enforcement. This initiative isn't a one-time event; Troop B will be maintaining a heightened presence and conducting similar targeted operations throughout the entire summer across our entire patrol area.

🏃‍♀️Troop B is off to the races! 🏃‍♂️

Several Troopers from Troop B were proud to run in the 2026 Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics to support Special Olympics Connecticut. Our leg of the run picked up at the Winsted town line from the Wi******er CT Police Departmentent and went into New Hartford where the torch was passed off to the Canton Police Department. It was another great day for a run, and it is always an honor to support such a wonderful cause!

Earlier this week, seniors from Oliver Wolcott Technical High School participated in the “Choices Matter” Program — a powerful and impactful presentation focused on the real-life consequences of impaired driving and the importance of making responsible decisions.

The program was led by Chris Sandy, a nationally recognized motivational speaker, life coach, and author whose message has reached more than one million students, parents, educators, and military members across the country. Through his personal story, Chris shared the devastating effects of impaired driving and encouraged students to think critically about the choices they make every day.

Troop B would like to thank Chris Sandy, the staff at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, SRO Trooper Day and everyone involved in bringing this important program to our community. Conversations like these save lives.

Remember: the choices you make today can impact the rest of your life. Drive sober. Stay safe.
