I am reaching out to let you know of a Plein Air event that will be taking place at the Canaan Community Forest on Saturday, September 19, from 10-2, rain date will be the 20th. There is much to see throughout the forest or just from the porches made available. People may bring their guitars and create songs, write poetry, bring their fiber art...anything they choose!

We would truly appreciate it if you would share this opportunity with your students and staff members. Refreshments will be made available, to include April's Maple soup/chili, sides, and sweet treats. Of course, you can hike and play disc golf while you are there, as well as participate in some art stations that will be set up which should be fun for all ages! RSVPs will be greatly appreciated for amounts of food needed.

Please let me know if you need more information or have any questions, and hope to see many people of all ages attend!

How do you get your ice cream coupon tonight? Here is where you can pick up your coupon. Be sure to visit all of your students classrooms too!

We also welcome you to visit a space that has gone under alot of renovation this spring/summer. Thanks to several different grants, the space that was once known by staff and students as; The Home Ec Room, The Health Classroom and or The Consumer Science Room has been remodeled. We are so excited for what this classroom will bring for opportunities to our students. The EPIC program has many programs in the works one of which is a NEW program for students in grades 7-12. The EPIC Lounge will be open starting September 14th on Monday, Wednesday's and Thursday's.

Dear Canaan School District Families,

Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful summer and are enjoying these last days before school gets underway. We’re excited for the year ahead and look forward to welcoming our students back!

As school gets started, we wanted to share a few quick reminders.
Vermont’s New Cell Phone Policy

Vermont has new requirements for student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices during the school day. Schools are now required to have policies limiting the use of these devices from arrival through dismissal, with some exceptions.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact their school office rather than relying on their cell phone. For specific reasons, there are exceptions

A Few Other Reminders
● Attendance: Regular attendance and being on time make a big difference. Please follow your child’s school procedures for reporting absences.
● School Calendars: Canaan Schools Choice schools have different calendars and schedules. Please refer to your child’s school calendar for important dates throughout the year.
● Contact Information: Please make sure your contact and emergency information is current with your Canaan school.
● Stay Connected: Keep an eye on emails and other communications from your child’s school for updates and important information.
