❤️🚑 Cardiac Arrest Survivor ❤️🚑

On May 22, Campbellsville-Taylor County EMS along with Campbellsville Fire & Rescue responded to a critically ill patient experiencing severe respiratory distress. Shortly after our arrival, Mr. Alec Dempewolf suffered respiratory arrest that progressed to cardiac arrest.

As soon as Mr. Dempewolf went into cardiac arrest, immediate resuscitation efforts were initiated by responding EMS and fire personnel. Through rapid intervention, teamwork, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) measures, return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) was successfully achieved prior to arrival at the hospital.

Today, we are proud to share that Mr. Dempewolf has been discharged from the hospital, has no neurological deficits, and is back to being his normal self with his family.

Calls like these remind us why training, preparation, and teamwork are so important. While no single person can take credit for a successful outcome, this incident highlights what can be accomplished when dedicated professionals work together toward a common goal.

The providers involved in Alec's care were:

Campbellsville-Taylor County EMS
• Lead Provider Dustin Price
• Major Cobee Goode

Campbellsville Fire & Rescue
• Captain Cody Wood
• Firefighter/EMT Logan England
• Firefighter/EMT Thomas Hafley
• Firefighter Colebrine Jackson

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and thankful to see Mr. Dempewolf doing so well. Stories like his are the reason we do what we do.

Disclaimer: This post is being shared with Alec's express permission. The information included has been approved for release by Alec and his family for the purpose of recognizing his remarkable recovery and the collaborative efforts of the responders involved in his care. We remain committed to protecting patient privacy and share this story only to celebrate a positive outcome and highlight the importance of early recognition, immediate intervention, and the chain of survival.

Today, Battalion 3 of Campbellsville-Taylor County EMS had the opportunity to train alongside Campbellsville Fire & Rescue on the use of the Pedi-Mate and Doty Belt. This valuable training was led by NRAEMT Angel Goodson and NREMT Jasmine McDonald.

The Pedi-Mate is a specialized pediatric restraint device designed to safely secure children during ambulance transport. Proper use of this equipment helps ensure our youngest patients receive safe and effective care while being transported to definitive medical treatment.

The Doty Belt is an essential patient movement device that assists responders in safely lifting, transferring, and moving patients while reducing the risk of injury to both the patient and provider. Having proficiency with this equipment is critical in a variety of emergency situations.

Training together is just as important as the equipment itself. When EMS and Fire personnel train side-by-side, we build stronger teamwork, improve communication, and ensure a coordinated response when our community needs us most. These partnerships help us provide the highest level of care and service to the citizens of Campbellsville and Taylor County.

This evening, Campbellsville Taylor County EMS and Campbellsville Fire & Rescue had the pleasure of attending the Taylor County High School graduation ceremony and celebrating the accomplishments of an outstanding group of graduates. Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, and we are excited to see what the future holds for each and every member of the Class of 2026.

We would also like to recognize two graduates who have already demonstrated a commitment to serving their community through emergency services.

Jose Ordonez recently successfully passed the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination and is now a licensed EMT. His dedication, hard work, and passion for helping others are commendable, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow in the EMS profession.

William Bennett serves as a Firefighter/EMR with Campbellsville Fire & Rescue. His willingness to serve others at such a young age speaks volumes about his character and commitment to his community.

Jose and William represent the next generation of first responders, and we could not be more proud of their accomplishments.

Congratulations again to all of the graduates of Taylor County High School. We wish you success, happiness, and fulfillment in all of your future endeavors.

Congratulations, Class of 2026!
