Campbell K9 Fundraiser

Campbell K9 Fundraiser The Campbell Police Department is moving to replace K9 Storm and a Police canine vehicle through fundraising efforts due to a traffic crash on 07/18/2016.

Due to unfortunate events that stemmed from a traffic crash involving Officer Manning and K9 Storm on July 18th, 2016 the City of Campbell will be replacing K9 Storm and the previous Police Canine vehicle, which was a total loss from the impact. K9 Storm and Officer Manning survived, however, were left with substantial injuries. Officer Manning has since returned to work still attending treatment

outside of his scheduled shift. K9 Storm has been off duty since the traffic crash but has shown improvement for an injury to his spine. K9 Storm will be returning to work in a light duty capacity with a daily assessment of his condition. Some people may question why K9 Storm is returning at all. Police Canines used in police work have a tremendous drive to "go to work". If suddenly a Police Canine cannot go to work anymore it could be compared to a human being losing one of their senses. The K9 does not understand why they are left behind, only that they are being left behind. The City of Campbell Mayor Nick Phillips has approved a plan to allow K9 Storm to maintain that drive once he is officially retired. The Police K9 program in Campbell has been a tremendous success, everything from violent felon apprehension, tracking fleeing suspects, locating illegal drug activity, and protecting fellow officers. We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing the highest standard of police services for our citizens.
