Baby has left the nest!

Yes, believe it or not, that is one of the baby herons.

Great Blue Heron chicks spend more time in the nest than your average chick, and after over two months, this one is finally adventuring.

You’re going to want to turn up the volume for this one ☝️

These Great Blue Heron chicks may look fluffy and adorable, but once feeding time starts, they sound like tiny dinosaurs straight out of a prehistoric jungle! Their raspy calls and enthusiastic demands for food make it easy to imagine a herd of velociraptors just off camera.

Turn up the volume and enjoy the sounds of hungry baby herons proving that dinosaurs may be extinct—but apparently, their descendants still know how to make an entrance! 🐦🦕
