Isn’t he the cutest? Meet Chipotle, our adorable little Gila monster! Don’t let his name fool you — this little “monster” is not scary at all. In fact, he is one of Arizona’s most unique native species.

While Gila monsters are venomous and should never be picked up or handled in the wild, they are fascinating creatures and an important part of our desert ecosystem. They spend nearly 90% of their lives underground, making a chance to see one up close a truly special experience.

This charismatic duo is the unstoppable force behind our Safety and Emergency Response team as well as two pillars of our carnivore department. Alex Spinnler and Vinh Nguyen started working in our Large Carnivore Department five years ago! They started at Out of Africa within one month of each other and have been inseparable ever since. This super hero and sidekick duo (we'll let you decide which is which) have saved the day in many ways, countless times over the past 5 years and can always be relied on for a little comic relief to keep us all smiling despite the many challenges of their dirty, difficult job! We appreciate you two! Congrats on your 5 year work anniversaries guys!!
