From the Desk of Mayor Woody:
Camp Hill is our home. And like any home, when things age, you don’t ignore them. You roll up your sleeves and get to work.
Over the past several weeks, I’ve been focused on a thoughtful transition from the previous administration, making sure nothing is lost, overlooked, or rushed. I’m grateful for the cooperation and institutional knowledge that has helped keep the city moving forward during this time.
I also want to say thank you for the many kind words, prayers, and support you’ve shared with my family and me following the loss of my husband, James Woody. Your compassion has meant more than I can put into words, and it has strengthened my determination to serve this community with care and steadiness. I appreciate your patience as I have worked through and continue to work through this personal loss.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working with our Town Council to roll out a focused plan to address some of the biggest challenges our town faces, starting with aging water infrastructure and streets in need of repairs.
I also believe strongly that the best ideas don’t just come from Town Hall. They come from the people who live here.
That’s why in the following weeks I will put out requests through in person meetings and social media to ask residents who care about Camp Hill to step forward and serve on community task forces, including a Derelict Properties Task Force to help us address our ordinances and make a comprehensive plan to remove the abandoned and unsafe buildings that impact our town. Others will be related to infrastructure and town beautification. If you have any ideas for others, please bring them my way. I am also planning a series of town hall meetings for us to come together to discuss these things.
This work won’t happen overnight. I need you to know that. We didn't get this way in one day, and we won't fix it in one day. But with honesty, planning, and us working together, we can make steady progress and build a better Camp Hill.
But I do expect many successes along the way and look forward to sharing our first one over the next few weeks. I have been working to build the relationships I need at the county and state levels, and I have been lining up meetings with individuals and organizations that can provide the resources we need to fix some issues in Camp Hill. I will announce those plans when the time comes.
More details on how to get involved will be available soon. If you love this town and want to be part of the solution, I’d love to have you. My door is always open, and my phone is always on for the residents of Camp Hill. I promise you I am spending every day on this to figure it out, but I cannot do it alone. This is our home, and it needs as many of us as possible working together on it.
Thank you to everyone.
