Today, on the anniversary of D-Day, we pause to remember the incredible courage and unimaginable sacrifice of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy. 🇺🇸
At Lower Allen EMS, we dedicate our lives to serving and protecting our community—a mission that is only possible because of the freedoms secured by these brave heroes on June 6, 1944. Many of the medics and corpsmen on those beaches paved the way for the emergency medical care we provide today.

We will never forget their bravery. To all veterans and their families: thank you for your service.

The numbers are in and they are incredible!

We are proud to share our 2025 performance data through the PA CARES program! 🚑❤️

What is PA CARES? PA CARES (Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival) is a statewide registry. While participation is completely VOLUNTARY, Lower Allen Twp. EMS proudly chooses to take part because it is absolutely critical in data collection. This vital information allows EMS agencies like ours to measure, analyze, and improve our response to out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA). The core belief is simple: only through measurement can we make informed decisions and replicate best practices.

Our participation allows us to compare our community’s performance against state and national benchmarks, ensuring we are delivering the highest quality care.

📈 2025 Data Highlights (Lower Allen Twp. EMS vs. Pennsylvania/National Benchmarks): Our data shows exceptional performance in key metrics, thanks to our highly trained first responders and an engaged community.

✅ Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC): We successfully achieved a sustained pulse in 55.6% of our cardiac arrest patients in the field—more than DOUBLE the state average of 26.9%!
✅ Overall Survival to Hospital Discharge: We saw a 16.7% survival rate, significantly outperforming the state average of 9.4%.
✅ Bystander Intervention: Your actions matter! Our community has a 50.0% bystander CPR rate and a 28.6% public AED use rate—both exceeding national and state averages.
These numbers reflect the dedication of our first responders, the implementation of High-Performance CPR, and the incredible response from you—our community—who are willing to jump in and act.

Thank you for your trust and support! We will continue to measure, improve, and save lives.

Working Together to Save Lives: The Cumberland County 4-Minute Community Program

This week is National CPR & AED Awareness Week, a time to recognize how vital quick action, CPR training, and AED access are when responding to Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA).
But for us at Lower Allen Township EMS, this week is about more than just awareness. It is about impact, progress, and hope.
We are incredibly proud to partner with our fellow county EMS agencies—Cumberland Goodwill EMS, Shippensburg EMS, and Penn State Health Life Lion—to bring the 4-Minute Community program to Cumberland County.

What is a 4-Minute Community?

When sudden cardiac arrest strikes, every second counts. This program empowers everyday citizens—our CARE Team members—to step up when it matters most. When a nearby cardiac arrest occurs, an alert sounds: “Cardiac arrest nearby, take this AED.”
By accepting that alert and providing early intervention before first responders arrive, you become a victim’s best chance at survival. You bring hope to patients and their families that a tough day might end in a second chance at life, rather than loss.

A Unified Effort

No single agency can do this alone. Together with Cumberland Goodwill, Shippensburg, and Life Lion, we are working hard to build a stronger chain of survival across our communities.

Get Involved!

A huge shoutout and thank you to Miss Motorama for making a special pit stop at the Lower Allen station today! 🏎️💨

Our team was absolutely thrilled to receive her generous delivery, which included:

A much-needed case of energy drinks to keep our crews fueled and alert during long shifts.

Beautifully written thank-you notes created especially for us by the amazing kids at Lincoln Speedway!

We are incredibly grateful for the continued love and support from our community. Reading the heartfelt words from the kids truly warmed our hearts and made our day. It’s thoughtful gestures like these that keep us energized—both literally and figuratively—while serving Lower Allen Township! 🚑💙

The Unseen Side of Readiness

When you see a Lower Allen EMS ambulance responding to a call, you are seeing the result of hours of behind-the-scenes preparation.
One of our most critical tasks is checking "outdates" every shift and every month. Every medication, sterile bandage, and piece of life-saving equipment we carry has a strict expiration date. Our crews meticulously track and replace these items to ensure nothing on our trucks is ever past its prime.
Why do we do it? Because when seconds count, our crews need absolute certainty that their gear is 100% effective, sterile, and ready to perform.
It is quiet, tedious work that rarely gets noticed, but it is the foundation of emergency medicine. Lower Allen, we are fully stocked and always ready!
