There was lots of winning going on as members and guests played Bingo and Jenga after the bountiful (picnic) lunch on Saturday, May 16. Hotdogs and hamburgers were provided by the club and grilled by favorite Grillmaster Rodger Nicely. Over 25 people brought their own picnic favorites and enjoyed good conversations, news updates and meeting and greeting new friends.

Golden Adventurers Senior Group, welcomes all Seniors to come have a meal and enjoy fellowship with others in the community. The meals are provided by members on a rotating basis and there are no dues. They meet at 10:30 am the first and third Mondays of each month at the Golden Adventurers Building, 960 West Road, Cameron 28326. The U.S. Military Women’s Memorial, Arlington, VA (Washington, D.C.)

Guest speaker at the April 20th meeting of the Johnsonville Golden Adventurers was MSG, U.S. Army (Retired) Carolyn Comfort, a Foundation Ambassador and spokesperson for the Military Women’s Memorial.

The memorial, opened in 1997, is located at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery. It is a tribute to America’s Servicewomen, past and present and consists of a museum with exhibits spanning the over 250 years of service that women have given to our nation, a theater, Hall of Honor, conference room, gift shop and an outdoor terrace and Court of Valor. An unforgettable monument and beautiful testament, the memorial, besides educating and informing past and future generations, is gathering information and maintains a database of all women who have served and, whenever possible, a history of her service.

Ms. Comfort’s focus is on publicizing the memorial and recruiting women to tell their story in the Register, an interactive database that includes the name, picture, service history and awards of nearly 245,000 past and present servicewomen

To register your service or to honor the service of a loved one so their dedication and devotion to our country will not be forgotten, please go to womensmemorial.org. For more information, email [email protected].
