As most are aware, Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest begins this week. Bikefest runs September 15th through the 20th. The entire lake area will be inundated with thousands of motorcycles and many have already began to arrive. Please watch for motorcycles while driving. As they say, look twice, save a life!

**UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE** On Saturday, September 12th between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Old South Hwy 5 in front of the airport will be closed to all North Bound Traffic between Forbes Road and the Dollar General store near the intersection of highway 5 & South highway 7. The road will be open to southbound traffic only headed to the Lake of the Ozarks Airshow at the Camdenton Airport. Travelers trying to head north in to Camdenton should take alternate routes such as Dry Hollow Rd to New Highway 5.

Our area will be under a heat advisory essentially all week. The heat index is expected to be at or above 100 degrees at least through Friday. Please use caution when performing physical activity outdoors. Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks as needed.

Camden County Emergency Management staff have spent the last several days on site helping to monitor the 2026 Gathering of the Juggalos event in Macks Creek. This event was polarizing for our community, but our local emergency agencies had one focus, to ensure the safety & security of our residents as well as the guests of the festival. Providing emergency services to an event such as this comes with numerous challenges, however your local first responders stepped up the the plate and knocked it out of the park! Camden County and the entire lake area is no stranger to handling large scale events. This event was handled by these responders in addition to the normal day to day duties that they all face. At times, resources were spread thin, but that did not stop our local heroes from completing the task asked of them. Numerous responders from all around the lake area worked tirelessly to ensure that this event was handled professionally so that everyone could have a safe and enjoyable time. A huge thank you to the Camden County MO Sheriff's Office, Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District, Mid-County Fire Protection District, Mercy EMS, Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District, Gravois Fire Protection District, Missouri Probation & Parole District 20, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Lake of the Ozarks CERT, and all the individual responders who helped with this event.

Students from all over Camden County are returning to school this week! Please use extra caution while driving in the area of our schools. Watch for pedestrians, bicycles, and young drivers who may be driving in traffic for the first time! Have a great year!
