Hello from the Osceola Public Library's A Novel Idea Book Club! Our book club's May book was "At Home in Mitford" by Jan Karon. Book Description: It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally loveable.
Yet, Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter the dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a loveable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel thief, and a secret that's sixty years old.
Suddenly, Father Tim gets more than he bargained for. And readers get a rich, provincial comedy in which mysteries and miracles abound.

This book is good and the characters are likeable but be prepared for the story lines to be kind of everywhere and the book to be a fairly slow read. If you are interested in joining the A Novel Idea Book Club, we meet the last Monday of each month @ 4 pm. We have a lively discussion of our book of the month with great friends and enjoy a great dessert! If you would like more information, please reach out to the Osceola Public Library, we would love for you to join us!

Hello from the Osceola Public Library's A Novel Idea Book Club! Our book club's April Book was "The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel. Book Description: Eva Traube Abrams, a semiretired librarian in Florida, is at the returns desk one morning when her eyes lock on a photograph in a newspaper nearby. She freezes; it's an image of a book she hasn't seen in sixty-five years - a book she recognizes as the Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article describes the looting of libraries across Europe by the N***s during World War 2 - an experience Eva remembers all too well.

As a graduate student in 1942, Eva was forced to flee Paris after the arrest of her father, a Polish Jew. Finding refuge in a small mountain town in the Free Zone, she begins forging identity documents for Jewish children fleeing to neutral Switzerland. But erasing people comes with a price, and along with a mysterious, handsome forger named Remy, Eva decides she must find a way to preserve the real names of the children who are too young to remember who they really are. The records they keep in the Book of Lost Names will become even more vital when the Resistance cell they work with is betrayed and Remy disappears.

As the Germans close in, Eva records a last, vital message in the book. Decades later, does she have the strength to seek out its answer- and help reunite those lost during the war?

This book was really good and a definite must read. Also if you are interested in joining the A Novel Idea Book Club, we meet the last Monday of each month @ 4 pm. We have a lively discussion of our book of the month with great friends and enjoy a great dessert!
