A message from our friends at the police department. Stay safe tonight.
🎃 Halloween Safety Reminder 🎃
Tomorrow evening as we join in the Halloween fun, let’s all make safety our top treat. Here are some important reminders to help our community celebrate responsibly and protect our little ghosts and ghouls:
🧟 Trick-or-Treaters & Families:
Choose costumes that are shorter in length, easy to walk in and non-flaming. Avoid masks that obstruct vision.
Add reflective tape, glow sticks or carry a flashlight so your child can be seen while it’s dark.
Stay on sidewalks, cross at corners or marked crosswalks, and never run across the street.
Young children should always be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Older kids should stick with friends.
Stop only at homes that have their lights on and you’re familiar with. Don’t go inside strangers’ homes or cars.
At home, inspect treats before letting kids dig in—throw away any unwrapped or suspicious candy.
🚗 Drivers & Motorists:
On Halloween night, drive extra cautiously through residential neighborhoods. Children may be crossing unexpectedly.
Avoid distractions (phones, music) and slow down when you’re near trick-or-treat zones.
Be patient, expect kids and families in the streets, and give them plenty of space.
🏠 Homeowners & Hosts:
If you’re handing out candy, keep your walkway clear of tripping hazards (garden hoses, toys, decorations) and turn on your porch light.
Secure pets indoors—they may be startled by costumes, strangers and noises.
If you’re hosting a party, please ensure everyone has a safe ride home; don’t drink and drive.
Have a spooktacular and safe Halloween! The Camden Police Department is out in the neighborhoods to keep our community safe and ensure everyone has a fun evening. If you see anything troubling, don’t hesitate to call our non-emergency line.
Stay safe, stay aware—and enjoy the treats!
