🔎 FOCUS ON: Camden Middle School — In Depth

At Camden Middle School - SC, a school garden is growing much more than vegetables! 🌱🍠

In December 2025, school nurse Amy Williams learned about an opportunity for CMS to receive a fully funded school garden through Clemson Extension and Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Health teacher Tatiana Coleman volunteered to apply and coordinate the project, and CMS was selected in January.

By May, CMS Beta Club members helped install the garden beds, and sweet potatoes became the first crop. They grew throughout the summer and were ready for students to harvest in August. Today, CMS students help maintain and care for the garden while the school family benefits from fresh, healthy produce.

And the learning doesn’t stop in the garden! Mrs. DeLaCruz’s students, who operate a classroom restaurant and grocery store while practicing life skills, are adding a mobile farmers market to their businesses this year. 🥕🛒

🔎 FOCUS ON: Blaney Elementary — In Depth

At Blaney Elementary School, caring for others isn’t just something they talk about — it’s something they do. 💙

Throughout the year, their Wildcats give back in countless ways — from collecting food, clothing, toys and supplies to supporting veterans, shelter animals, Special Olympics, local families and cancer research.

But the greatest lesson is watching a child realize they have something to give. Through every donation, visit, kind word and act of service, students learn they are never too young to make a difference.

As first grade teacher Randi Ray says, “Success isn’t measured only by what you accomplish for yourself, but also by the way you care for others.”

Don’t Break Your Attendance Streak! ️⚡️📚 🔥

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and that's why we are challenging students to keep their attendance streak strong!

Every single day students show up to class, they keep their streak going—unlocking new skills, connecting with friends, and leveling up for the future. Missing just a few days can throw off a student's rhythm, but showing up every day keeps their momentum strong.

School is better when all students are here! Let’s see how long students across our district can keep their streaks alive this September!
