A little friendly competition for a very meaningful cause. 🥎❤️

Members of the Camden Police Department and Camden Fire Department took the field today for the Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament, joining fellow first responders for a day filled with teamwork, community and plenty of good-natured competition.

This year’s tournament was held in honor of Officer Christopher DeLong, Jr., with donations collected throughout the day to support his family.

We are proud of our Camden Police officers and Camden firefighters for representing the City. Thank you to everyone who helped organize the tournament and to all the families who came out to cheer on the teams and show their support.

One community. One cause. 💙

🇺🇸 WALK OF REMEMBRANCE | SEPTEMBER 11, 2026 🇺🇸

Join us this Friday, September 11, as first responders from across Kershaw County mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a five-mile Walk of Remembrance.

📍 ROUTE: The walk will begin at the Lugoff Fire Department, 892 Highway 1 South, and continue along Highway 1 South to Broad Street, Broad Street to Rutledge Street and Rutledge Street to Lyttleton Street before concluding at the Camden Fire Department.

⏰ WHEN: Friday, September 11, beginning at 9:03 a.m. The walk is expected to last approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

🚒 PARTICIPATING AGENCIES:

• Camden Fire Department
• Camden Police Department
• Kershaw County Detention Center
• Kershaw County Dispatch
• Kershaw County EMS
• Kershaw County Fire Services
• Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office
• Lugoff Fire Department

🇺🇸 LINE THE ROUTE: The public is invited to line the route with American flags and patriotic displays. Wave your flags and cheer on our first responders as they walk in memory of the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders.

This meaningful tradition was started in 2020 by Firefighter Dejuan Warren after pandemic restrictions canceled other 9/11 events.
Let’s show our Kershaw County first responders the support they deserve as they honor our fallen heroes.

Together we remember. Together we honor. Together we stand united.
