PSA: From Arkansas State Police on the fire scene. HWY 278 to Hampton IS NOT closed. AR 274 from Spectra to Woodberry is closed because that is where the fire is right now. Contained and extinguished are different. The planes, helicopters, and forestry firemen are working on extinguishing. Please continue to pray for people and the community

🔥 FIRE UPDATE 🔥
Approximately 2,300 acres have burned. Additional resources have arrived today from the AR National Guard to assist with containment. Please avoid these areas to allow the first responders to do their jobs and get this fire contained.

STATEMENT FROM MAYOR YOUNG: The City of Camden is currently monitoring and assisting in the response to the devastating fire near the Highland industrial Park - the very epicenter of our local industry where countless of our citizens are employed.

At present, the brave firefighters of the Camden Fire Department, along with all surrounding agencies, are responding in effort to bring this fire under control.

I am in direct contact with the Governor’s Office as we speak in cooperation with state and federal response. SAU Tech has been evacuated and is currently being housed at the Camden Fairview High School gymnasium.

As we continue to manage this crisis, I am calling on all citizens of Camden and Ouachita County to pray for the protection of our brave men and women in uniform as they place themselves in harms way to protect people and property.

May God guide their efforts and keep them safe.

Due to a large fire currently burning in Calhoun County smoke has covered the City of Camden. Be aware that the smoke may get heavier this evening.

Updated restoration time from Entergy for the Fairview area is 10PM.

There are poles, transformer and lines down causing the delay.

An oversize load has pulled down electrical wires on Fairview Road near the Mount Holly Road intersection. Please avoid this area at this time as first responders are working to clear the roadway. We will continue to update as we can and give any information that we do receive from Entergy regarding outages in this area.

At this time, Fairview Road will be closed between Williams Avenue and Mount Holly Road
