🚒 MTFD FIRST DUE | 04/30 🚒

Here we are with another week of our virtual trading card series, MTFD First Due!

This series gives us a unique opportunity to highlight members of the Madison Township Fire Department and, more importantly, give you a glimpse of the people behind the badge!

If you haven’t noticed, each card is customized to the person featured. From their career stats and specialties to the random questions we throw their way, no two cards are exactly alike.

Since we’re treating these like actual trading cards, we’ve added a little something extra!

Our officers receive holographic cards, while our chiefs get their own rare “Chase Cards” (in a future release!)

Speaking of officers, this week we’re featuring Card 04/30: Captain Joby Jordan!

Joby has spent 34 years in fire and EMS, including 14 years with Madison Township. He currently serves as our Deputy Fire Marshal and specializes in community risk reduction.

After flipping his card, we have a few questions of our own!

Who in the world is serving steaks that are beyond well done? And of all the songs out there, how did the Barney theme song make his playlist?! 😂

🚨 FALL BREAK IS HERE, Y’ALL! 🌴☀️

It’s officially time to load up the family, pack 37 bags containing 37 pairs of underwear for a five-day trip, and spend the next 12 hours questioning every life decision that led you to this moment.

Dad’s already threatened to turn the car around twice. Mom’s reminding Dad about the exit he missed 14 miles ago. One kid has to p*e even though you stopped 11 minutes ago, and the other is apparently breathing too loudly.

AHHHH, FAMILY MEMORIES. ❤️

Before you hit the road and put your marriage, patience, and vehicle’s transmission to the ultimate test, your friends at the Madison Township Fire Department have a few travel safety reminders.

Because apparently, some of y’all need to hear this:

Your GPS arrival time is NOT a world record you need to break.

The left lane is NOT your family’s personal vacation property.

And doing 94 mph down I-65 isn’t going to make the ocean any wetter.

Also, wherever you’re traveling, take a minute to follow the local fire department, police department, and emergency management agency. We love having you follow us, but if you’re getting chased down the beach by a hurricane in Florida, we’re probably not going to be much help from Indiana.

So buckle up, slow down, put the phone away, and enjoy your vacation!

And remember, if the kids get on your nerves, you CANNOT leave them at Buc-ee’s.

We checked. Apparently, that’s HIGHLY frowned upon! 🦫

Don’t forget to pack 32 pairs of underwear for your seven-day vacation. You know, just in case! 😂

Oh, and one more thing!

DON’T ANNOUNCE TO THE ENTIRE INTERNET THAT YOU’RE LEAVING TOWN! 👀

We know you’re excited about that vacation, but posting that your house will be empty for the next week is basically sending an invitation to some VERY unwelcome houseguests!!!!

Post those vacation pictures when you get home. The beach will still look just as good and wet on Facebook a week later.

It’s Friday, and you know what that means! Another week, another card in our MTFD First Due Series!

This week’s card features Firefighter/EMT Jeb McKinney of A Shift!

Jeb has spent two years in fire and EMS, including one year with Madison Township. He also specializes in recovery diving and swift water rescue.

When he’s not training or responding to emergencies, apparently he’s pretty good at teaching, too!

If you ever catch Jeb at the beginning of a shift, there’s a good chance he’s got coffee or a Ghost Energy drink nearby. Apparently, caffeine is required, not recommended. 😂

October is nationally recognized as Fire Prevention Month! 🚒🔥

For generations, firefighters have visited schools, taught children about fire safety, and hopefully created lifelong memories.

Chances are, you still remember when your local fire department visited your school as a kid!

Yesterday, members of B Shift visited North Madison Elementary to spend time with students and teach them about fire safety, what firefighters do, and how to stay safe in an emergency.

While our goal is always to educate, we also hope we sparked an interest in a few future firefighters! After all, many of the firefighters serving our communities today were once those same kids, looking up at a fire truck and dreaming of doing the job themselves.

Apparently, that warm welcome also extends to those of the Peter Cottontail variety. 🐰

This little guy somehow found his way inside the firehouse and needed a little help finding the exit.

The baby rabbit, that is. Not our paramedic!

Our crew safely removed him and reunited him with his mom, who was hopping with joy outside.

Just another day at the firehouse. 😂

Madison Township Fire Department is accepting applications for a full-time civilian paramedic.

We’re offering a 24/48 schedule, a target salary of $65,228.80, PERF, paid time off, department training, aggressive protocols, and progressive equipment, with even more on the way.

With 1,156 calls for service in 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to practice medicine, train, and be part of a department that continues to grow.

The final phase of our full-time hiring process is complete!

This past Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, candidates participated in structured, in-person interviews as the final step of the process.

We want to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to serve on our interview panel. We intentionally selected panel members to ensure a fair and unbiased interview and scoring process for each candidate.

With interviews complete, we will now total scores from each phase of the hiring process. Those scores will determine the final hiring list, with candidates ranked by their overall score.

The completed hiring list will remain active for two years and will be used as full-time positions become available within the Madison Township Fire Department.

We appreciate every candidate who has invested their time and effort throughout each phase of this process. From more than 120 initial applicants to the completion of our final interviews, we wish each candidate the best as we finalize the hiring list.
