Madison Township Fire Department

Madison Township Fire Department Madison Township Fire Department started in 1955 when local citizens realized that they needed fire protection.

Founded by Floyd Mason and Russ Lambert, the first station was housed in a borrowed garage at what is now Taylor’s Market at S.R. 144 and Kitchen Rd. After many fund raisers and fish fries, the department was moved across the street to the building next to the Napa building. Soon after, the township purchased a used open cab fire engine from a department in Ohio. In the late 70′s the North Madison

School let the township borrow a building that sits on the northeast end of the schools property to house station 32. That station was in service until 2000 when the new station and current headquarters were built on Landersdale Road. Since then the department has grown its inventory to support the citizens. Our fleet includes 2 pumpers, 1 75' ladder truck, 1 paramedic ambulance, 1 tanker, and 1 brush rig. We also maintain 1 reserve/training pumper and 1 reserve ambulance. We encourage our community members to stop by and visit.

Crews finished moving into the temporary housing this afternoon in spite of a small plumbing issue. Special thanks to Pedigo Plumbing Service for their prompt help. We would also like to thank everyone else who helped make this possible.

Today, we remember our Charleston 9 and their sacrifice.

On June 18, 2007, the Charleston Fire Department lost nine brave firefighters while battling a devastating blaze at a furniture store. These heroes were memorialized on June 22, 2007. A procession of more than 300 fire engines, ladder trucks, ambulances, and command vehicles stretched approximately 7.5 miles and moved single-file along a route which passed each of the three fire stations from which firefighters were lost, as well as past the site of the fatal fire.
