MISSION
The mission of Baby U is to provide Cambridge parents with the skills, knowledge and support they need to intentionally promote and advocate for the social, emotional, and academic development of their children. DESCRIPTION
Baby U begins with our 14 week parenting program consisting of workshops, playgroups, home visits, and a graduation ceremony. Workshops include latest research-based
information on : brain development, reading and literacy, positive discipline, stress management etc...and space to reflect on and share our own experiences. We make time for fathers and mothers to meet separately and together. The program provides opportunites for parents and staff to connect and build community. Childcare for all the children in the family, transportation and incentives are provided. Parents choose from a menu of activities: home visits, workshops, support groups, family fun events, and field trips. We have a diverse staff, all are parents, many of whom were raised Cambridge. Between us we speak Spanish, Haitian Creole and French. QUOTES: What Parents have to say about Baby U
“Baby U is a blast!”
“I learned to put my mad aside and not take it out on my daughter.”
“It’s great learning from people from other cultures and knowing that I don’t have to parents just the way my Mom and Grandmom did. I’ve learned to try things–to take risks and learn.”
“I love men’s group. I need guys to talk and share with. You can’t with women in the same way. I always keep stuff inside. There is an opportunity to share here.”
“Now, I know I’m not alone in this parenting thing because other people go through what I’m going through.”
