Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden is proud to announce the following promotions within the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office:

🚔 Jon Simmerman has been promoted to Road Lieutenant
🚔 Matthew Terrell has been promoted to Road Corporal

Lieutenant Simmerman is a 25-year veteran of law enforcement and has dedicated the past 18 years of his career to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office. Most recently serving as a Road Corporal and supervisor of the School Resource Officer Division, Lt. Simmerman has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to our community. In his new role, he will oversee and lead the Road Division.

Corporal Terrell has spent his entire law enforcement career serving the citizens of Guernsey County. He began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 2009 as a dispatcher before becoming a Road Deputy in 2010. For the past eight years, he has served as a School Resource Officer at Rolling Hills Local Schools, building strong relationships with students, staff, and the community. As Road Corporal, Cpl. Terrell will assume supervisory responsibilities for the School Resource Officer Division and will be assigned to East Guernsey Local Schools.

Please join us in congratulating Lt. Simmerman and Cpl. Terrell on these well-deserved promotions. Their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to serving the residents of Guernsey County have earned them this recognition. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to their continued leadership and service to our community.

The Guernsey County Sheriff's Office had the privilege of escorting Ethan Resor of Buckeye Trail High School as he departed for the Ohio High School State Track and Field Championships, where he will be competing in the discus event.
We are proud to recognize Ethan's hard work, dedication, and commitment that have earned him the opportunity to compete among the state's best athletes. Representing Buckeye Trail and Guernsey County on the state stage is a tremendous accomplishment.
We would also like to extend our best wishes to all of the student-athletes from Cambridge High School who have qualified for and are competing in the Ohio High School State Track and Field Championships. Your dedication, perseverance, and countless hours of training have brought you to this moment, and your communities are proud of your achievements.

This Memorial Day, the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office pauses to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and selflessness protect the freedoms we enjoy every single day here in Ohio and across the country.

Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT), with assistance from the Cambridge Police Department SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at a property described as a compound located on a large acreage on Main Street in Kimbolton during the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 20, 2026, shortly before 2:30 a.m.

Investigators with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement (CODE) Task Force obtained the search warrant following a lengthy investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity occurring from the property over the past several months.

During the search of the property, investigators recovered a bulk amount of methamphetamine, evidence consistent with drug trafficking activity, and several fi****ms located inside the residences on the property.

As a result of the investigation, Charles “Chuck” Stone, 51, of Kimbolton, Ohio, has been charged with the following offenses:

• Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a felony of the second degree
• Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a felony of the second degree
• Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a felony of the third degree
• Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree

Stone remains in custody at the Guernsey County Jail awaiting his initial appearance in Cambridge Municipal Court on Friday, May 22, 2026.

This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed against other individuals.

Sheriff Paden praised the investigators involved for their continued efforts in combating the drug epidemic within Guernsey County and thanked the Cambridge Police Department for their assistance during the operation.

COMMUNITY TRAFFIC ADVISORY

The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community that increased traffic and temporary delays are expected on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, during the Guernsey Crossroads Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K event in Cambridge.

The race will begin at 7:00 AM, with participants and spectators gathering in the area before the start. Motorists should expect heavier traffic near:

📍 Turner Ave.
📍 Southgate Parkway
📍 Downtown Cambridge
📍 Additional roadways throughout Guernsey County along the marathon route

There will also be an increased law enforcement presence and traffic activity in areas where runners will be passing through the county. Drivers are encouraged to use caution, slow down in marked areas, and remain alert for runners, pedestrians, and traffic control personnel.

Please allow extra travel time if you plan to be in the area during the event.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as our community hosts this exciting event. Good luck to all participants, and thank you for helping keep everyone safe!
