This month is Native American Heritage Month! As we celebrate the rich cultures and histories of Native communities, it’s also important to acknowledge the ongoing challenges they face. The Department of Justice found that rates of sexual violence are approximately 2.5 times higher for Indigenous women than for White, African American, or Asian American women. This staggering statistic highlights the urgent need to address violence in our communities. Let’s raise awareness, support advocacy efforts, and work together for justice and safety for all. We have linked below some organizations that stand for supporting Native American Women, please check them out.

This month, let’s take time to educate ourselves, reflect on the struggles and triumphs of Native communities, and amplify the voices of Indigenous people.

How to Honor Native American Heritage:

Support Native-Owned Businesses & Artists: Support Indigenous craftsmanship, art, and entrepreneurs.

Learn About Native History & Culture: Read books, watch documentaries, or attend virtual talks led by Indigenous speakers.

Engage in Land Acknowledgement: Recognize the lands you occupy and honor the people who originally lived there.

Donate to Indigenous Causes: Consider supporting Indigenous rights organizations and communities.
