Join us in celebrating Cheryl Williams, Morse Crossing Guard, on being named a Crossing Guard Champion through the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School Program! No matter the weather, Cheryl offers a warm and friendly presence to students and families. The efforts of our crossing guards add peace of mind to the routine walk to school, and Cheryl has become a beloved part of the school experience for our Morse students, families, and staff.

Cheryl was celebrated at the Annual Safe Routes to School Awards Ceremony at the State House on June 1.

The Bright Spot: Finn Graham Awarded State Student Leadership Award for Advancing Inclusive Culture for LGBTQ+ Students at CRLS!

CRLS student Finn Graham was awarded the 2026 Jeff Perrotti LGBTQ+ Student Leadership Award by the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth. The award recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, advocacy, and a deep commitment to creating more inclusive, affirming school communities for LGBTQ+ youth across the Commonwealth.

“This award is an enormous honor for Finn, and speaks volumes for his advocacy on behalf of his peers here at CRLS, and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole. We are extremely proud of Finn's academic achievement in addition to the honor and recognition he has rightfully earned for his service beyond the school community. Congratulations, Finn, and to all the other Massachusetts honorees."

It's National Safety Month!

National Safety Month aims to highlight leading causes of preventable injury and death and raises awareness of safety strategies to help create a strong safety culture within our communities. Our Safety & Security team, educators, and administrators work hard to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff. The ongoing partnership with our families is a critical piece of these efforts.

Preventative Safety Tips:
• Safely store fi****ms in homes and vehicles when not under the direct control of an authorized individual as required by state law.
• Find the right car seat appropriate for your child’s age, weight, and height. Ensure the car seat is properly installed, visit a car seat inspection center near you if needed.
• Make sure children wear protective gear such as helmets, safety padding, and other safety gear for sport and play. Ensure the gear fits properly and teach your child to check for fit prior to activity.

We encourage you to review our Safety & Security Playbook (https://bit.ly/4v4i7Y1), which is a comprehensive resource that outlines both the caregiver and district roles for preventative safety measures. Thank you for your continued commitment to the safety of our children both inside and outside of school buildings.
