Every parking lot and brownfield should be covered. There’s a quote in the article that sticks out:

“They [solar installations] will be highly visible. And I think that that also is huge for changing hearts and minds,” said Evie Schwartz, assistant division director at the MEA. “I’m excited for a future when the public can see the solar panels and see what the state has done. That could also have some intangible part of convincing the world to go solar.”

It’s not going to change my mind, it’s actually going to reinforce what I already think: that’s where large scale solar belongs.

About $50 million worth of solar panels will appear on Maryland Department of Transportation parking lots and brownfields in coming years, paid for with money from a state renewable energy fund that has been in the news recently.

Please be advised that the State of Emergency, proclaimed by Dorchester County, will end at 4:00PM today, February 23, 2026, and the County will resume normal business operations tomorrow, February 24, 2026. All employees are expected to report to work tomorrow as scheduled.

As weather alerts remain in effect for Dorchester County, high winds and saturated grounds continue to bring down trees. Public Works has responded to more than 40 downed trees, and several roads remain blocked. These incidents are causing travel delays, and power outages.

Crews are actively working to clear roadways. Please continue to report downed trees to Public Works so they can respond as quickly as possible.

Please avoid unnecessary travel and use caution.
