At this week’s meeting, the Camarillo City Council proclaimed June as Pride Month, acknowledging the importance of equality and inclusion and recognizing the Diversity Collective VC, which offers services for youth and adults and promotes advocacy, education, and mental and physical health for the LGBTQ+ community and those affected by HIV and AIDS in Ventura County.

Exciting progress is underway at 2361 Barry Street! As part of our housing solutions initiative, the City has broken ground on the Barry Street Housing Community — which will consist of six units constructed from Build America, Buy America-compliant materials. These units will serve as short-term supporting housing for individuals identified through Project H.O.P.E. This housing community is part of a coordinated pathway to housing, which initiates at Barry Street, and then eventually, will support residents into transitioning into permanent supportive housing at 268 Arneill Road (which is set to break ground later this month.)

The Barry site had the concrete pour and sewer/water line connections begin on June 3, and two of the six units have arrived. Landscaping is expected to start in the next few weeks.
