PRESS RELEASE::

On Wednesday June 3rd 2026 at approximately 815 AM, the Camargo Countryside Fire Protection District was dispatched to a grain bin rescue at 1725 E Co Rd 600 N in rural Douglas County. Upon arrival it was discovered that a 63 year old male was entrapped inside a grain bin of corn. Technical Rescue Teams from the Charleston Fire Dept, Arthur Fire Protection District Grain Bin Rescue Team, and the Urbana Fire Dept were contacted to perform the rescue. The CCFPD, Tuscola Fire Dept, Hindsboro Community Fire Protection District, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Villa Grove Police Dept, Douglas County EMA, Carle EMS and Airlife provided support. The victim was successfully extricated from the grain bin and was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Douglas County is under a tornado warning until 745 pm. Take cover in your safe place until the storm passes. We set off the village storm siren at 7:10 pm. Stay alert and stay safe.

We will be testing the outdoor warning system at 10 am this morning, Tuesday March 3rd.

The CCFPD has responded to 4 brush/ grass fires calls since Friday. All of these fires became out of control because of careless burning in high winds. With the high winds and dry conditions we are having please consider what may happen if you decide to burn.

CCFPD was out for a corn stubble field fire near Murdock earlier. Thanks to our partners at the Community Fire Protection District and Villa Grove Fire & Rescue for the assist.

Please don't burn today. Its dry and the wind will be blowing 16 mph with gusts up to 36 mph. Please use common sense when burning no matter what the weather is like.
