Still playing catch up on April’s favorite reads for our staff here at Camano so today we bring you Bekah’s favorite read of April!

Bekah’s favorite read for April was ‘Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books’ by Kirsten Miller.

Synopsis: “In the bitty town of Troy, Georgia, local firebrand Lula Dean has organized a campaign to rid the library of any books that don’t agree with her traditional sensibilities. To further her mission, she has set up a free little library in her front yard featuring the books that she deems appropriate titles for a proper southerner. One night, someone secretly switches out every single book in Lula’s library with banned books but masks them in dust covers of Lula’s originally selected titles. What unfolds is one of the most delightful and funny brands of small-town mischief and mayhem I have read in a long time.”

Calling all homeschoolers! 🐢🦎🐸🐍

Join Ms. Jordan at the Camano Island Library on Friday, May 15th at 11:00am as we hop, skip, & slither into the world of herpetology! We’ll examine specimens primarily from Washington state with the help of the Burke Box traveling mini exhibit, Amphibians & Reptiles.

Come along as we discover the differences between our amphibian & reptile friends, make frog origami, & maybe even have a surprise appearance from everyone’s favorite library amphibian friend, Lottie!
