📢 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY! 📢

The Village of Calumet is seeking residents interested in serving on two important local boards:

🏛️ Village Council
One vacant seat is available to complete a term ending in November 2026.

📋 Planning Commission
One vacant seat is available to complete a term ending in December 2026.

Serving on a board or commission is a great way to get involved in your community and help shape the future of Calumet. We encourage residents with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and interests to apply. Note, you must be a Village of Calumet resident for either of these roles.

Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest to the Village Office or email it to [email protected].

🧹🚛 Village of Calumet Spring Clean-Up Opportunity! 🚛🧹

The Village of Calumet will have a dumpster available at the DPW Shop beginning Wednesday, June 3 for residents who would like to help clean up their properties and remove blight-related debris.

✅ Village of Calumet residents only
📍 DPW Shop
🕗 DPW staff will be available to assist Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Items generally accepted include:
• Household junk
• Non-hazardous construction debris
• Small amounts of renovation materials

🚫 Please do NOT place the following items in the dumpster:
• Paints, stains, solvents, or other liquids
• Tires
• Batteries
• Electronics (TVs, computers, etc.)
• Propane tanks
• Gasoline, oil, antifreeze, or automotive fluids
• Hazardous chemicals, pesticides, or fertilizers
• Asbestos-containing materials
• Appliances containing refrigerants (such as refrigerators or freezers)

If you are unsure whether an item can be accepted, please check with Village staff before bringing it.

Memorial Day, a federal holiday held the last Monday in May, is the nation's foremost annual day to mourn and honor its deceased service men and women.

Originally called Decoration Day, it was formalized by a "Memorial Day Order" issued by Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan in 1868.

The modern proclamation calls on Americans "to observe Memorial Day by praying, according to their individual religious faith, for permanent peace."

We are so excited to welcome the Red Jacket Boutique to our downtown!!

The Chamber would like to congratulate Red Jacket Boutique on the grand opening of their third location, opening on Main Street in downtown Calumet! This is an exciting addition to the community and a wonderful new shopping option for residents and visitors alike.

Be sure to join them for their Grand Opening on Saturday, May 16 at 10 AM! The shop will be fully stocked with new arrivals, exclusive in-store items, giveaways, and more.

The Calumet CopperBots are headed to the WORLD Championship!

This past weekend at the Michigan State Robotics Championship, our small but mighty team delivered an incredible performance—earning a spot on the #1 alliance, winning our division, and finishing as state semifinalists.

Now, we’ve qualified to compete in Houston, Texas against 600 of the best teams in the world
For a student-led team from a small community, this is HUGE.

But we need your help to get there.
Travel, registration, and lodging costs total over $15,000, and our team operates on a very tight budget. Families are already stepping up—driving students, transporting equipment, and packing into hotel rooms to make this possible.
Our community has helped us come this far—now we’re asking for one more push.
