We have our work cut out for us (pun intended) in opening up our summer trails this spring. Many harsh snowstorms this winter brought down a lot of deadfall and brush, and we need your help to get the trails open in time for Ride the Keweenaw (and so we can all get on our bikes).
We are still waiting on the last snow piles to melt, but we are starting to get out there with loppers and chainsaws to open up the corridors.
We need volunteers on the following dates; Fri 5/15 2-5pm, Sat 5/16 10am-1pm and 2-5pm, Tues 5/19 2-5pm. Meet at the groomer barn. Please email [email protected] if you plan to attend.

The last hurrah! Our head groomer finished it off last night with one last groom. Grooming report from Nordic Pulse:

Hello All; It has been a great season. I just got done grooming for the evening, and tonight will be the last grooming session of the season. I dragged the skate deck once more on Valley, Cedar, Eds, Greenstone, and Mama Bear. I did do one pass on Birch, but many more bare spots have broken through on that trail so I did not do a second pass. Use caution if you ski it. As usual for this time of year; Expect Late season spring conditions and keep an eye out for bare and thin spots. The start of Valley and start of Mama Bear both look MUCH worse than the rest of the trails - if you walk past the bare spots, the rest of the trail is in good shape. I hope you Enjoy your ski tomorrow, and enjoy your summer. See you next winter!

It has been a long ski season and we have our grooming team to thank! Long hours removing deadfall after the Thanksgiving storm, laps and laps in the equipment during heavy lake effect snowfall, cold temps, more trees and sticks and branches removed than anyone can count, rain and warm weather, The Great Bear Chase grooming, Easter Hoppet and all the other special events, groups, and completing the day to day operations. Nice job pulling off one of the longest ski season in the Northern Hemisphere!

Here's a screenshot from Nordic Pulse. A green dot means they're still grooming - one in Anchorage, one in the Sierras, one in Labrador, and one right here at Swedetown. (There are no green dots in Europe or anywhere else in the world). It's a long flight to the other places, and their snow will likely be gone by the time you get there, so we recommend that you just head to Swedetown.
