Nature is beautiful. Nature is majestic. Nature also has this guy. We found him flexing on cars as they passed.

This Black-headed Grosbeak looks like she is going to give Kershaw a solid 4/10 on yelp. Maybe we pegged her wrong. Maybe thats her excited face. But somehow thats not the vibe we're getting...

These birds have spent the summer here and are headed back to central America where they have their year-round habitat. One interesting fact about them is that they are one of the only predators for monarch butterflies!
Monarchs have a toxin that most other creatures avoid, but the Grosbeak will feed in cycles that allow them time to purge the toxin from their systems.

Not bad, Sand Harbor. Not bad.

You should make some plans for camping in the Tahoe area and take in a show, even if you would rather be at Kershaw!

O, gather me the rose, the rose,
While yet in flower we find it,
For summer smiles, but summer goes,
And winter waits behind it!

For with the dream foregone, foregone,
The deed forborne for ever,
The worm, regret, will canker on,
And time will turn him never.

So well it were to love, my love,
And cheat of any laughter
The death beneath us and above,
The dark before and after.

The myrtle and the rose, the rose,
The sunshine and the swallow,
The dream that comes, the wish that goes,
The memories that follow!

~ William Ernest Henry

There are some roses blooming that we have never seen this year. We suspect because they get picked or cut (or munched by deer) before we see them! Come and enjoy the flowers at Kershaw, but please leave them for others to enjoy as well!

For all you volleyball players out there, we know that it has been frustrating to chase your ball into the wash when it hits out of bounds. We finally got around to refreshing the area a little and installing a net to keep the ball in the court! Come out and play a game or two!
