Last night, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners took time during their work session to recognize one of our own, Missy Bingiel, for being selected as the Georgia APCO Telecommunications Officer of the Month for July 2026.
While we previously shared the exciting news of Missy's statewide recognition, we are incredibly grateful to our County Commissioners for recognizing her service in front of our community.
For many people, a 9-1-1 dispatcher is simply a voice on the other end of the phone. Most will never meet the person who answered one of the hardest calls of their lives. Yet every day, dispatchers quietly serve behind the scenes; providing calm during chaos, offering reassurance in moments of fear, and helping coordinate the response when seconds matter most.
Missy has been doing exactly that since 1999.
During the meeting, we shared that what makes Missy so deserving of this recognition isn't just her years of service; it's the compassion she brings to every shift. She is the coworker who encourages others, the steady voice people lean on, and someone who genuinely cares for both the citizens she serves and the team she works beside. Those qualities are what earned her this prestigious recognition from Georgia APCO.
Congratulations again, Missy! Your Gordon County E9-1-1 family is incredibly proud of you and grateful for the heart you pour into serving our community each and every day.
A sincere thank you to the Gordon County Board of Commissioners for taking the time to recognize Missy's accomplishments and for honoring the work of the men and women who serve behind the headset. Your support of public safety—and of those who answer the first call for help—means more than you know.
