Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management (CNEM) has issued an emergency declaration prohibiting all burning within the Chickasaw Nation, including Bryan, Carter, Coal, Garvin, Grady, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall, McClain, Murray, Pontotoc and Stephens counties.

While this emergency declaration is in effect, it is unlawful to conduct unapproved outdoor burning, including activities such as campfires, bonfires, brush clearing and household trash burning.

🔥 BRYAN COUNTY BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT 🔥

The Bryan County Burn Ban remains in effect through September 14th.

Due to continued dry conditions and the increased danger of wildfire, we are asking everyone to take this restriction seriously. No warning will be issued for violations of the burn ban.

🚫 DO NOT BURN. This includes open burning of debris or yard waste, burn barrels, and other outdoor fires prohibited by the current burn-ban resolution.

A small fire can become an uncontrolled wildfire in a matter of minutes. Please help us protect our homes, property, neighbors, firefighters, and first responders.

If you see an uncontrolled fire or an emergency involving fire, call 911.

Burn Ban Effective Through: September 14th

🆕 IIHS news | A new study from IIHS data confirms that far more drivers are using cellphones in the lead-up to crashes than is reflected in police reports.

“It’s widely accepted that police reports often fail to capture the role of cellphones in crashes. Many smartphone functions are hard for a witness to see, and drivers are reluctant to admit being distracted,” IIHS President David Harkey said. “Telematics are allowing us to understand the true magnitude of the problem.”
