The county burn ban for Lowndes County has expired. However, conditions are still not ideal for outdoor burning. Hopefully, we will get enough rain this week. Please exercise extreme caution and use good judgment while doing any outside burning. Make sure to have measures in place to keep fires under control. Contact Jim Robbin’s (Lowndes County fire Coordinator) office if you have any questions. Thank you for your assistance in helping keep our community safe.

..CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS LIKELY SATURDAY...

National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM CDT Saturday. The
Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* WIND...Northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 30 mph.

* HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.

* IMPACTS...The combination of a dry airmass, dry fuels and strong
northerly winds will result in critical fire weather conditions.
Wildfires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning should not be attempted.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds and low relative humidity will create explosive fire
growth potential.
