Dedicated staff strive to encourage each child to be actively involved in his/her education. Our teachers are involved in staff development that emphasizes best practices and meaningful learning experiences for all children. Our programs are designed for students to be engaged in a full complement of classroom opportunities for students to learn "beyond classroom walls" through field trips, commun

A little creativity and a lot of CAL pride at DLMS! 🎨

During Seminar last week, every student and staff member decorated a popsicle stick with their own unique design. Now, the Duncan Lake Student Council is taking all of those individual pieces and bringing them together to create one large collage for the school hallway.

We love seeing a project that gives everyone a chance to leave their mark. We can’t wait to see the finished piece!

🌙🎆 Under the Lights was a good night for CAL Cross Country!
With an almost full moon overhead and fireworks lighting up the night, our Fighting Scots turned in some great performances at South Christian.

🏃‍♂️ Boys finished 2nd, just one point ahead of East Grand Rapids, with 10 runners earning top-50 medals and 18 setting personal records!

🏃‍♀️ Girls brought home 3rd place out of 17 teams, with five runners earning medals in a field of more than 300.

Fast times, medals and a pretty great setting for a Friday night race. Congrats, Scots!

🐛🦋 Our Young 5s are watching some pretty amazing changes happen right before their eyes!

The class started with nine caterpillars and has been watching as they form their chrysalises and eventually emerge as butterflies.

They’ve already released two butterflies, one female and one male! Students learned they can tell the difference by looking for the black dots on the lower wings of the male butterfly.

Now they’re keeping track to see how many boys and girls they have as the rest of their butterflies emerge.

A pretty fun way to watch the life cycle come to life! 🦋

⛳ First-place finish for CAL Girls Golf!

The Fighting Scots battled through some very wet course conditions to take first place at the Jenison Jamboree at The Meadows, a first for the program!

Leading the way for CAL were Emily Walbeck (12), Kendall Smith (10), Gabby Sternberg (9), and Chloe Klapmust (10). The tough conditions made for a challenging round, but the Scots took advantage and pulled away from the field.

A great way to kick off jamboree play. Congrats, ladies! 💯

Science in action! 🫧
Fifth graders in Mrs. Mowers’ class put the scientific method to the test with a bubble experiment!

Students asked questions, made hypotheses, tested their ideas, collected data, made observations, and drew conclusions. And, of course, they made some pretty impressive bubbles along the way.

A fun way to see science come to life in the classroom!
